Kurupt's journey began in Philadelphia, but his move to Los Angeles to join Death Row Records set the stage for his rise. He made his recording debut on Dr. Dre's *The Chronic* in 1992, a landmark album that introduced him to the world. In 1995, he appeared on Tha Dogg Pound's *Dogg Food*, further cementing his place in the West Coast scene. As one half of Tha Dogg Pound with Daz Dillinger, the collaborative album *Dogg Food* brought him into the limelight. His solo debut, *Kuruption!*, released in October 1998 on A&M Records, was a double album with one disc dedicated to the West Coast and the other to the East Coast. It reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200, his career peak. Subsequent albums saw moderate success, with *Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey* hitting No. 10 on the Billboard 200. In 2005, he released *Against tha Grain* on his own label Gangsta Advisory Records and has since released records through different outlets. Throughout his career, he has continued to make guest appearances for Snoop Dogg and affiliated acts.
